Sunday 4th by Ana Maria

On the second IP day, at 9:30 am, we started from Casal to Valencia, to visit the exhibition "Valencia Heritage and Traditions" within Fallero Artist Museum. We have been coordinated by Joan Maria Senent. I was very impressed by the movie I saw there, because it shows mastery and skill fallas artists.
After that, we visited the rest of the museum, where we could admire large part of the fallas. Creations reproduce different characters from stories, politics, church life, or cartoons.
I was impressed and amazed at the same time, because, after so much effort from artists to make those creations, the exhibits are then burned. The response to that I received immediately, and learned that everyone in town has the opportunity to choose their favorite exhibit to save it from burning, because fire symbolizes purification by burning and destruction of evil in the previous year.
At 12:00 hours we gathered together and we discussed those seen at the museum. At 13:00 we went to Benicalap's Park, where we had picnic.

At 15:00 hours we were able to participate at the Ninot's exhibition, where I had the opportunity to vote and get rid of an exhibit from being burned. In this sense, I received a ballot that had to vote twice, once to save an infantile fallas and twice to save a major fallas.
It was a very interesting experience and I felt very good when I was put to save two fallas after, in advance, we visited all the exhibits and we could choose which fallas I liked most and it was worth to saved.
At 19:00 pm I attended a concert at the Valencia Palau de la Mùsica. It was a wonderful evening, as we listened to music of that region.
The day ended with a traditional dinner at a restaurant in Valencia.

MARCH 4th

To begin with, I think 4th of March, was the day in which we started to connect with each other. We left  the Casal d’Esplai  in the morning as a big heterogeneous  group-some of us were walking slow, others even slower J-  that’s a fact, but  I think we came back in the evening  having at least one thing in common: the memory of that day.

I must say that I didn’t knew what to expect for the IP, before being part of it. I didn’t exactly knew how to approach the topic of the IP- Intergenerational Encounter- except from the psychological point of view. I knew that there are many differences between generations, which can often generate dysfunctional relationships, I knew how these relations should be managed in therapy, but I didn’t thought of the fact that something could be done in order to prevent them. So, I was very pleased to see that the rest of the students came with more of an educational point of view, which, for me personally was very useful. I had also a pleasant surprise to see that I was about to work with very enthusiastic people.

The fact that our first visit was to a new place for everybody- The Fallero’ Artists Museum- was great. In this way we were able to start a new topic other than the IP’s , that could involve us all, we could share impressions and opinions in a less formal and serious way. In addition, the fact that the discussions took place in an open –door space, such as one of the Valencia public parks, was also benefic for our further interactions.

Actually, for me, the 4th was one of the days in which I had the most fun, and I’m glad I have the chance to speak about this particular day. Visiting The Ninot’s Exhibition was by far very impressive not only because of the spectacular amount of work behind every Ninot, but  because of the way of expressing nowadays issues-amazing! After that we went in a short visit of Valencia’s  downtown and The City  Arts of Science, which was also quite thrilling and funny taking into consideration that we were a few foreign students with a bad sense of orientationJ) sat on a couple of 4-sit-bycicles.

To end the day we had the chance to attend The Palau de la Mùsica to listen to a typical Concert by La Banda Municipal de València. It was goof for our tired feet and a pleasure for our ears. Then we went to take dinner in a restaurant located in the area close to The Río Turia River Gardens.

All in all, I think that day was all about interaction and discovery, interacting with each other and discovering some of the Valencia’s particularities. Beautiful day!

MONDAY 4th by Mona

In the afternoon the activity consisted of watching a movie, “Failure to lunch” which was showing exactly an intergenerational issue: a 35-year-old man living in the home of his parents , showing no interest in leaving the comfortable life his parents, especially his mother, have made for him there. The purpose of watching the movie, was to emphasize that there is not only the situation where two generations aren’t in contact, but also the one in which the bind is too strong, and at some point it becomes dysfunctional . While we were analyzing each character, we observed different features, characteristics of the individual personality that could improve or destroy certain relationships, including the intergenerational ones. I think that the group, especially the Social Education students at the beginning of the activity were a little bit confused because of the psychological approach of the theme and its importance, but in the end, they managed to take some relevant conclusion and acknowledge how important an interdisciplinary approach  in every topic is .
